Clifford " Glyn " Nelson

Clifford “Glyn” Nelson was born April 14, 1948 in Newport News, Virginia, son of Clifford Glanwern Nelson and the late Georgia Bell Townsend Nelson.     He received his Master’s Degree of Music Composition at Florida State University. Glyn had a distinguished career in the banking industry and later the Business Manager of the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center of Scotland County until his retirement.  Glyn was a faithful active member of the Lutheran Church of the Living Word alongside his wife, Rev. Linda Nelson, and loved serving in music ministry. He had a beautiful voice and used his talent singing in church and in the community. He also enjoyed composing music, as well as reading. Glyn will be remembered as a devoted husband, dedicated and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He passed away at the age of 73 November 10, 2021.

Glyn is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rev. Linda Blanton Nelson of the home; sons, Robert Colin Nelson (Kelley), and Andrew Gareth Nelson; his father, Clifford Glanwern Nelson; brother, David Stuart Nelson (Laura); sister, Laurie Christine Nelson (Amber); four grandchildren, along with his extended loving family and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of the Living Word.    Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.  Presiding for the service will be the Rev. Nancy Willard and the Rev. Linda Nelson.
