Charles Townsend

Mr. Charles Albert Townsend, age 89 of Laurel Hill passed away on November 29, 2025.

He was born January 15, 1936 in Seneca, Kansas, loving son of the late Charles Alban Townsend and the late Alma Mauld Crain Townsend. Charles was a Veteran who proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a valued employee of Green Acres Memorial Park in California working as the cemetery Superintendent for forty-five years until retiring.  Charles was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing the guitar and working on computers. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will be truly missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Edna Ruth Shockey Townsend; sons, Charles Townsend, Jr., Samuel Wagner; and ten siblings.

He is survived by sons, Brenton Jay Townsend of Riverside, CA; daughters, LaNelle Elaine Blackstone of Jamestown, KY, Julie Ann Bostrom of Riverside, CA, Brandi Lynne Townsend of Laurel Hill; son-in-law, Richard Paul Brown; brother, Frank Townsend of Sacramento, CA; sister, Larraine Rice-Townsend of New Mexico; grandchildren, Joshua Blackstone, Carolina Blackstone, David Blackstone, Andrew Bostrom, Allyson Lawrence, Carl Townsend, Stephen Avery; along with a host of loving great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

The family is planning a service for a later date.
