On the evening of February 21, 2025, our beloved Catherine Strickland Quick entered the gates of Heaven to look into the eyes of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the one whom she faithfully loved and served her entire life.
Catherine was the loving daughter of the late Raymond and Hattie Leviner Strickland born September 20, 1935 in Scotland County, North Carolina. On June 29, 1957, she married her devoted husband Charles “Jesse” Quick together raising their children in a loving Christian home and sharing their lives until his passing. She was a Godly lady who showed the love of Christ in every aspect of her life whether being a homemaker, or her working career in banking with Wachovia Bank for 35 years, then bookkeeping with Security Lock and Hardware for 25 years. She loved and faithfully served as a member of the East Laurinburg Church of God where she will dearly be missed.
With a Dorcas like spirit, Mrs. Catherine always wanted and did help others in need in any way that she could. She had an amazing way of making everyone feel loved and appreciated, always there to pray, give support or a shoulder for tears. Children were her passion, to love and care for them and making sure their needs were met while serving many years with Project INASMUCH. She also enjoyed her time arranging flowers and listening to Southern Gospel Music. Christ was evident in her daily walk and in that contagious smile all could see His love. Mrs. Quick was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a precious aunt who loved like a mother, cherished her church family and loved serving her community. Her presence will deeply be missed by all.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by sister, Vaun Seal Baxley and husband Tommy Baxley; nephews, Mickey Baxley and Billy Perkins; brother-in-law, Lloyd Brigman; and great niece, Melissa Baxley.
She leaves behind her legacy of love to her family, sons, Rodney Quick and wife, Nita of Laurinburg, Greg Quick and wife, Melanie of Newtown, PA; grandchildren, Megan Locklear and husband, Johnathan, Rod Quick and wife Claire, C.J. Quick and wife, Lindsey, Gregory Quick and Grace Quick; great grandchildren, Wyatt Locklear, Ray Locklear, Brinleigh Locklear, Dalton Quick, Lyla Quick, Nora Quick, Marlowe Quick and Callie Quick; sister-in-law, Marjorie Brigman; nieces, Toni Cox and husband, David, and Teresa Perkins each of Laurinburg; nephews, John Perkins and wife Samantha, Michael Brigman and wife, Susan, Lloyd Brigman, Jr., and wife Gwen; great nieces and nephews, Whitney Norton and husband, Kevin, Summer Mace and husband, Travis, Collins Hewett and Mitch Baxley; great-great nieces and nephews, Camdyn and Brantley Norton, Annaleigh and Waylan Mace.
