Cassie Byrd Obituary

Cassie Callahan Byrd of Laurinburg, beloved mother, grandmother and daughter passed away at the age of 61 on March 20, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She will deeply be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cassie was the daughter of Malcolm Dewey Callahan, Jr., and Brenda Simms Callahan born January 25, 1965 in Laurinburg, NC. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to the love and care of her family. She adored her grandchildren cherishing every moment shared with each of them.   Cassie enjoyed great conversations and socializing with her friends along with keeping everything spick and span.

She is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Aaron Byrd, Sr., and sister, Wendy Callahan Bennett.

Cassie is survived by her daughter, Julie Johnson and husband, Andre Johnson; daughter-in-law, Denise Chavis; her parents, Mack and Brenda Callahan all of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Jade, Madalyn, Matthew, Jr., Zoee, Mason and new granddaughter expected soon.   She also leaves behind her fur baby, Foxy, along with loving extended family and devoted friend. 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Richard Tyson.    Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
