Cary Daniel McClellan was born November 3, 1933 in Marion County, South Carolina, son of the late Charlie Daniel McClellan and Zipporah Annie Jacobs McClellan. He was the devoted husband of 63 years to the late Louise McKenzie McClellan. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Army and in the Army Reserves until 1961, serving in Germany from 1953 – 1955 as Cannoneer in the 516th Field Artillery Battery. Cary was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. After his years of service, he went on to retire after 38 years in the manufacturing industry from Dixiana Mills, Ingraham Watch Plant, and LOF/Pilkington. During his lifetime, he loved traveling to the North Carolina mountains, listening to bluegrass music, camping, and square dancing with his wife. He also enjoyed dining out at Cracker Barrel, and watching Gun Smoke. Cary was a dedicated father, loving grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will truly be missed. He passed away at age 88 on November 4, 2021.
Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by brothers, Buie McClellan, Harris Mc Clellan; sisters, Rhoda Cook, Florence Icenhour, Evelyn Monroe, and Dorothy Densley.
Cary leaves behind his sons, Malcolm Cary McClellan (Gennie), Daniel Peele McClellan (Christine); daughter, Janet Lynn McClellan, former daughter-in-law, Wanda Pate; grandchildren, Daniel James McClellan, Brittany Nicole McClellan, Lianna Clark; great grandchildren, Emma-leigh Grace McClellan, Sydney Brooke Locklear, Lauren Clark (Waylon), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A Memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
