Carolyn “Buckwheat” Faye Elmore of Laurinburg, NC passed away at the age of 68 on August 26, 2025 in her home surrounded by loved ones.
Carolyn was born on November 20, 1956 in Laurinburg, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Charlie and Edna Oxendine. She had a passion for helping others and never let anyone do without. Carolyn spent her life working in the Healthcare field and was a production operator in the lab. She spent every free moment with her family watching her grandkids and great grandkids grow.
Carolyn was preceded in death by husband, Roger Elmore; son, Charlie Boring; daughter, Angela Pittman; brother, Jimmy Oxendine; and sisters, Bernice Oxendine and Lucille Leviner.
She leaves behind grandchildren, Christopher Swain (Chloe), Charles Swain (Shaniece), Nicholas Swain (Latoya), and Angie Swain Jones (Calvin) all of Laurinburg; great-grandchildren, Christy Swain, Kinsley Swain, Christopher Swain, Jr., Maddison Wall, Charles Swain, Jr., Charlene Swain, London Swain, Carolyn Godwin, Kayla Godwin, Tyler Swain, and Christopher Jones; stepson, Ronnie McPherson of Hamlet; brothers, Allen Oxendine (Judy) of Batesburg, SC, Charlie “Dobby” Oxendine (Carol) of Laurinburg, and Daniel Oxendine (Judy) of Columbia, SC; along with her loving extended family and many friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.
A time of visitation will be prior to the service beginning 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
