Carol Jean Clark Chavis Obituary

 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Jean Chavis on Friday afternoon the 9th of May 2025 at the age of 66.

After a courageous five-year battle with pancreatic cancer, her final chapter has closed. Today, we mourn the loss of Carol, a woman of truly angelic spirit.

Married on the 18th of May 1978; For 47 years, she was the beloved wife of her husband Jamie Chavis (USN Retired) of Laurinburg, NC, and the devoted mother of five loving and accomplished children; Christopher Bryan Chavis and wife Dedra of Berthoud, CO, Justin Chavis and wife Jenna of Holly Springs NC, Jaimee Lynn Chavis Handsborough and husband Josh of Tyler TX, Amanda Chavis and Marquise of Gainesville FL, and Miranda Chavis Dowdy of Garner NC; each a testament to her guidance and have been blessed to know and cherish their mother's unwavering support throughout their lives.

Her love extended to fifteen grandchildren, Christasia B. Chavis, Krystel D. Chavis, Katelyn M. Chavis, Devin Chavis, Justin Adam Chavis, Jasmine Chavis, Jayden Chavis, Richard Michael Chavis, Cadence Carol Chavis, Aiyanna McQueen, Ethan Handsborough, Sophie Chavis, Demetrious Brown, Dason Brown and Jai Dowdy. Her sister Mary (Betty) Clark Locklear of St Paul’s NC; brother, Charles Clark of Pembroke NC.

Carol is preceded in death by her father, Vardell Clark and mother, Katie Bullard Clark; brothers Kermit Clark, L. B. Clark, Ardell Clark, Roger Lee Clark, Redell Clark, Carl Gene Clark, and sister Elois Locklear.

While we grieve the profound pain of her absence, we also celebrate the enduring legacy she built through her actions and the deep love she cultivated within her family. May we all embrace the precious time we were gifted to share with her and hold dear the joy, experiences, and intimate moments that each of us will forever treasure.

Born on Tuesday the 7th of April 1959 in Laurinburg, NC at Scotland Memorial Hospital. She graduated high school at Hoke County High School in Raeford, NC. She was a United States Navy Wife for almost two Decades; She was a Culinary Arts and Business Major Graduate of Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC. Throughout her career and entrepreneurial endeavors Carol touched the lives of so many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit.

She had many varied interests throughout her life, but she enjoyed spending quality time with her family, cooking, traveling, watching hummingbirds, growing flowers, baking, attending Christian concerts, shopping and playing candy crush just to mention a few.

Carol will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, with her spirit living on in the hearts of those she loved.

The family wishes to thank all of those who have sent their love, prayers, and support throughout the years.

 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.  The family will have a time of visitation following the service at the funeral home.
