Carlton “Alfred” White was born March 21, 1940 in McColl, South Carolina, son of the late Charlie and Cleo Giddens White and preceded in death by brother, Willie White.
Mr. White proudly and faithfully served as the Scotland County Sherriff from 1978 until 1986. He continued his career with the North Carolina Department of Corrections and later with Loomis Armored Services. Following retirement, he loved just sharing his time with family. His family, kids and grandkids were his pride and joy and they adored him as well. Alfred had a heart of gold; never met a stranger and he loved helping others. Along with caring for family, he also enjoyed his time treasure hunting. Alfred will truly be missed and cherished as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, devoted brother, uncle and friend. He passed away to his Heavenly rest at the age of 82 on April 21, 2022.
Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Maxine Creech White of the home; sons, Mike White (Doris) of Laurinburg, James White (Joanie) of St. Augustine, FL, Charles White (Andrea) of Olatha, CO; his adoring grandchildren, Brandon White, Sara White, Jamie White, Brittany White, Ashley White, Amanda White, Chance White, Cooper White and his first great grandbaby due in May; his sister, Ruby W. Norton of Laurinburg and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. Burial with honors will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to services on Tuesday, beginning at 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
