Captain Robert John Nichols, age 89 of Laurinburg passed away Monday, July 26, 2020.
Robert was born December 3, 1930 in Amesbury, Massachusetts, son of the late John Nichols and Leah Roy Nichols. He retired after proudly serving in the United States Marine Crop from 1949-1970. During his military career, he served in the Korean War Conflict and the Vietnam War, spending many years in various military locations. He then began his second career with Aetna Life and Casualty Company, retiring in 1990 after 20 years of service. He enjoyed tennis and ice hockey. Robert was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will forever be missed.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 68 years, Jo Ann Nichols of the home; sons, Douglas Patrick Nichols, Brian Anthony Nichols (Valerie); sister, Jeannine Nichols Cardillo; grandchildren, Robert Anthony Nichols, Amanda Nicole Nichols, Allyson Paige Nichols; great grandchildren, Sharon Elizabeth Nichols, Quinn Amber Nichols, along with his nieces, nephews and many friends.
