Mr. Brinkley Hunt of Maxton, NC passed away at the age of 76 on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
He was born April 23, 1949 in Robeson County, NC, son of the late Percy and Ina Mae Ransom Hunt. Brinkley was a Vietnam War Veteran who proudly served in the United States Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal in recognition of his bravery and service. He was a hard-working man who enjoyed his career as a heavy equipment operator with Murphy-Brown, a division of Smithfield Foods until retiring. Brinkley was a talented builder who could build anything, he loved horses, eating trail mix, and watching the television. He never met a stranger and always willing to help others in need. His greatest joy was time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Brinkley was an adored husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Dorsey Hunt, Kenneth Hunt, Eugene Hunt; and sisters, Beulah Mae Hunt, Patricia Capper, Marion Grimsley, and Doreen Barker.
Brinkley is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Goins Hunt of the home; sons, Robert Matthew Thomas and Clifton “Phillip” Thomas both of Maxton; daughter, Patsy Ann Clark Deese of Maxton; brother, Hal Hunt (Flora Mae) of Maxton; sisters, Alice “Faye” Hatcher of Maxton, Rebecca Hunt (Wendell) of Rowland; a special niece, Joan “June” Young; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; along with many loving extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the services beginning 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.
