Brenda Simms Callahan

Mrs. Brenda Ann Simms Callahan of Laurinburg passed to her Heavenly home surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, June 26, 2026.

She was born June 1, 1944 in Scotland County, adored daughter of the late James Washington Simms and the late Mary Francis Deaver Simms. Along with being a homemaker, Brenda retired after many dedicated years with BellSouth. She was a simple lady who enjoyed simple pleasures, especially reading a good book, shopping at consignment stores, and trips to the beach. Brenda dearly loved her family and cherished the memories and time they shared. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by daughters, Cassie Sue Callahan Byrd, Wendy Leigh Callahan Bennett; brother, Bruce Paul Simms; sister, Linda Joe Simms Owen; and grandson, Matthew Aaron Byrd.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Malcolm Dewey “Mack” Callahan of the home; brother, James Washington Simms, Jr.,(Patricia) of Laurinburg; sister, Jeanne Simms Farris of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Julie Michelle Johnson (Andre) of Laurinburg, Blake Easton Bennett of Pinehurst; great-grandchildren, NaVeya Jade Hunt, Madalyn Rae Byrd, Matthew Aaron Byrd, Jr., Zoee Lynn Locklear, Mason Komanchee Lee Byrd, and Amina Brooklyn Cassidy Johnson; and special friends, Denise Chavis and Linsey Wright; along with many loving extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 p.m.      A private interment will be at a later date.
