Brenda Joyce Locklear

Brenda Joyce Locklear, age 71 of Laurinburg passed away December 25, 2021.

Brenda was born January 28, 1950 in Scotland County, daughter of the late Ernest Locklear and Arthea McGirt Locklear. She was a member of South Main Pentecostal Holiness Church and worked many years in the restaurant business. Brenda loved feeding birds, working in her yard, and cleaning house. Spending precious time with her family and grandchildren were most important to Brenda and she will forever be remembered as a devoted mother, loving grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Buddy Lowery; brothers, Jimmy Locklear, James Locklear, Donnie Locklear and sister, Priscilla Driggers.

She leaves behind her sons, Hank William Locklear of the home and Charlie Junior Locklear (Corrinna) of McColl, SC; brothers, Pete Locklear of Laurinburg, Malcolm Locklear of Gibson; sisters, Bessie L. Martin (Richard) of Laurinburg, Bonnie Ray Milliken (Tommy) of Laurel Hill, Dora Haynes (Junior) of Wagram; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Michael Smokey Locklear. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
