Mr. Boyd Hampton Walters of Laurel Hill passed to his Heavenly home at the age of 93 surrounded by the love of his family in the early morning of March 19, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who will deeply be missed.
Boyd was born December 8, 1932, son of the late Jesse and Wilma English Walters of Scotland County, North Carolina. He proudly served his country as a Veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed his career with L.O.F / Pilkington Glass retiring as a supervisor after 25 years of service. Following his retirement, Boyd enjoyed his time working with The O’Neal School carefully transporting students on their daily journey to school and back home in Scotland County. He enjoyed attending and serving in the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.
Those who knew Boyd understood his love of golf. He truly loved playing often on a daily basis, along with working and helping other golfers on the courses of Cypress Creek and Deercroft Golf Club. He loved the outdoors and his long walks in Hammond Park. He also enjoyed his many travels on bus trips with his beloved Nancy.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Billy Walters and Artis Walters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Caulder Walters of their home in Laurel Hill; son, Boyd Hampton “Hamp” Walters, Jr., (Tina) of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Jennifer Smith (Rayford) of Laurel Hill, NC; step daughters, Teresa Pennell (Gary) of Cary, NC, Rhonda Caulder of Belmont, NC, Lisa C. Hester (Greg) of Denver, NC; eight grandchildren, Jessica Smith Cooper (Johnny), Casey Barfield (Jameson), Stephen Pennell, Kari Pennell, Brandon Hester (Kayla), Christy Hester (Matt), Molly Conn (Kevin), Ryan Walters, and ten great grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, loving extended family and many friends.
The memorial service celebrating Mr. Walters will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Edward Bullard. Visitation will be prior to the service on Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests memorial donations be given to the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.
