Boyd Franklin Freeman was born to the late Willie Martin and Julia Mae Guinn Freeman on June 22, 1927 in Gibson, North Carolina. He departed this life at the age of 95 on May 14, 2023.
He proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during WWII. When he returned to the states, Boyd finished high school and married Vashti “Joni” Lowery with 58 years of marriage until her death. He retired from JP Stevens, Inc., after 41 years of service with perfect attendance. He began his own lawn care business and continued until the age of 92. He also enjoyed NASCAR, sports, gardening, riding a bicycle, and playing cards.
Boyd departed, leaving behind a son, Boyd Wayne Freeman of Laurinburg; daughter, Patti Freeman Quick and husband, Chris of Gibson; grandson, Christopher Parker and wife, Casey; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Luna, and "Baby" Wayne; step-granddaughter, Brook and husband, Austin; great-grandchild, Raynie; sister, Donnie Freeman Stanton; and sister-in-law, Edell Freeman.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elise Freeman Walters; and brothers, Clyde Freeman and W.J. Freeman.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Gibson United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
