Bonnie Schenck Obituary

Bonnie Thatcher Schenck was born January 9, 1943 in Richmond County, Indiana, loving daughter of the late Charles Thatcher and Marjorie Shumaker Thatcher and the loving wife of Mark Allen Schenck.  She dedicated her life to caring for her family and others.  She had a special passion for children and loved teaching preschool at the First United Methodist Church Preschool Program.  She served as a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Living Word.  Bonnie was a community activist and supporter of the Republican Party.   She enjoyed reading and being a member of the Book Club, along with sewing, cooking and baking.  Her greatest joy was sharing time with her family and many friends.  She passed away at the age of 78 on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Bonnie leaves behind her daughter, Krista Schenck of Sanford, NC; son, Scott Allen Schenck and wife Shally of Wake Forest, NC; a brother, Charles “Chuck” Thatcher and sisters, Carol Kalsbeek, Melissa Bevins, Gail Stanley, Diane Thornton; grandchildren, Gene Allen Mertz Schenck and Lanah Schenck, along with a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Schenck will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church.  A private burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be given to Lutheran Church of the Living Word, 1925 South Main Street, Laurinburg, NC  28352.
