Blake Cheely, age 59 of Wagram passed away at his home on October 21, 2025.
Blake served in the United States Navy after graduation, married, left the Navy after 18 years with an injury and then moved to Alaska. There, he worked in construction laying gas lines and along with being a firefighter. He and his wife raised 4 beautiful girls He traveled the world in the Navy, and was one of the support ships that repaired the USS Cole after the attack in Yemen in 2000. He had many tales to tell of his adventures. He loved traveling, visiting family and friends in California and Texas, Florida and here in North Carolina where for the last 3 years he made a home. Those of us close to him loved him dearly and we will miss him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Cheely; grandparents, CPO George Harrell and Hazel, Rufus and Indy Cheely.
He is survived by his, Dad Ernest Cheely of Palm springs CA; his daughters Caitlyn, Kendall Kristin and Kelsie; his sister, Marquette Beltz (Larry) Hutchinson, Kansas, maternal aunt, Vickie Haywood (Frank Richardson) of Wagram. He leaves behind many cousins and extended family and his beloved dog Connor who was his emotional support.
