Billy Ray Oxendine

Billy Ray Oxendine age 78 of Maxton, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

He was born April 5, 1946 in Maxton, NC, the loving son of the late Eddie and Liz Anna Oxendine. Billy worked for many dedicated years with Carolina Crating until retiring. He attended and served as a member and deacon of Union Light Baptist Church for over 40 years. Billy enjoyed sharing his love of God, fishing, and spending time with his family. Billy will lovingly be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will truly be missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Billy Ray Oxendine, Jr.; brothers, Alton Oxendine, Winford Earl Locklear, John “Buddy” Oxendine, Thurman “Runt” Oxendine, Lacy Locklear, and Clyde Locklear; sisters, Rosie Lee Revels, Frances Brewer, Minnie Brayboy, Ophelia “Phyllis” Revels, Shirley Oxendine Locklear, Katie Lee Locklear, and Eula Hunt.

Billy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maxine Richardson Oxendine; daughter, Liz Oxendine Cummings and husband, Mark; brothers, Leroy Oxendine and wife, Mary Hazel of Maxton and Eddie Oxendine of Maxton; sisters, Alene Lemons of Fayetteville, Betty Lou Johnson of High Point; two grandchildren, Noah Cummings and Raven Cummings of Pembroke; extended family, Charles and Lois Richardson of Rowland, Harold and Dianne Richardson of Maxton, Mary Lois Oxendine of Pembroke, and Donald Revels of Pembroke; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at the Union Light Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be prior to services on Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
