Betty Knighton Poythress

Betty Ann Knighton Poythress was born August 12, 1948 in Fountain Inn, SC, loving daughter of the late Luther H. and Mattie Leopard Knighton.   She dedicated her life to the love and care of her family as a homemaker.  She passed away at the age of 77 on May 15, 2026 after a long illness. 

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Dean Poythress, Sr.; sons, Roy Lee Alverson and Henry Dale Alverson; sister, Juanita Chesney and nephew, Buddy Davis.

Betty is survived by her step children, Jerry Poythress, Jr., and wife Kim of Laurinburg, NC, Pam Parker and husband Ronnie of Laurens, SC; sister, Mary Lou Davis of Laurens, SC; step grandchildren, Whitney Radford, Michael Allen Poythress, Nicholas Parker, Brandi Parker; step great grandchildren, Konnor Brayboy, Luke Poythress, Anastasia Poythress; nieces; Mary Ann McAbee, Nancy Coggins, Sara Smith and nephew, Roger Davis.
