Betty Britt McArthur, beloved mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend departed this life for her Heavenly home at the age of 75 on March 3, 2025.
Betty was the loving daughter of the late Rufus and Julia Mae Clark Britt born October 11, 1949 in Scotland County, NC. On October 14, 1967, Betty married Donald McArthur and together shared a happy life of 55 years until his passing in 2022. Along with being a homemaker, Betty had a long career with Cape Fear Farm Credit retiring after 34 years of service. She was a faithful member of St. Pauls Methodist Church where she loved serving with the children, especially the children’s choir. She was a talented seamstress and loved making gowns for hospice patients. She also enjoyed reading a good book along with baking for her family and friends. Betty’s greatest joy came from sharing time with her family. She will dearly be missed by her family all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by sisters, Linda Lowe and Patricia Persinger.
Betty leaves behind her daughters, Lori McArthur Strickland (Joey Hunt), and Lyn McArthur Lewis (Shaw) of Maxton; her adored grandchildren, Joshua Lewis, Jack Lewis, Sidney Hunt, Leta Hunt, Karissa Hunt, Dillon Hunt; brother, Thomas Britt of Clover, SC; devoted sister, Pam Ekis of Laurinburg; and K-9 companion, Toby; along with a host of nieces, nephews and loving extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the St. Pauls Methodist Church with burial following in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, March 6, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
As requested by Betty, memorials donations are to be given in her memory to St. Pauls Methodist Church or Scotland Regional Hospice.
