Betty Lewis Gibson, age 78 of Laurinburg passed away to her Heavenly home on December 25, 2020.
Betty was the loving daughter of the late Barney Emerson Lewis and Naomi Ruth Gibson Lewis, and was born in Scotland County. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Betty retired after many years from Abbott Laboratories. She faithfully served the Lord and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Betty had many talents and enjoyed drawing, writing, poetry, and cooking for her family and friends. She was a collector of dolls, angels, and items she held close to her heart. Betty's greatest joy was sharing precious time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Barney Emerson "B.E." Lewis and Billy Charles Lewis; a step daughter, Sandy Foreman of Wisconsin.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, husband, James “Tracy” Gibson of the home; sons, Lee Mumford (Lynn) of Macon, GA, Daniel Lacy Mumford (Pamela) of Camp Hill, PA and daughter, Tina Denise Mumford of Aberdeen, NC. Step sons, James Tracy Gibson, Jr., (Amber) of Laurinburg, Jerry Wayne Gibson (Valerie) of Laurinburg, twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren along with a host of loving family.
Services will be held at graveside on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Laurinburg Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at graveside with facial mask and social distancing.
The family requests in lieu of flowers in order to help others memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer Research Foundation or Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
