Bess Angie (Locklear) Bruns

Mrs. Bess Angie Locklear Bruns of Gibson, NC departed this life at the age of 82 on August 6, 2023.

She was born December 27, 1940 in Robeson County, NC daughter of the late Lawrence Locklear and the late Stella Brooks Locklear. Bess along with husband, Alvin A. Bruns owned and operated a successful trucking business together for many years. Bess loved her family, loved sharing spending time with each of them and her many friends, she will dearly be missed.  

Along with parents, preceding her in death are brother, Edison Locklear; and sisters, Twilla Haynes and Hilda Penske.

Bess is survived her beloved husband, Alvin A. Bruns of their home; sons, Kimbell Ladell Bonardo and S. Michael Matuszczak both of Laurel Hill, NC; daughters, Wendy R. Michaels of Phoenix, AZ, Debra B. Lanier (Richard) of McDonough, GA, Tammy Preston (Franklin) of Canton, GA, Jami Thomassen of Waleska, GA; brothers, Bemis Locklear of Cartersville, GA, June Locklear of Stockbridge, GA, and Leverne Locklear of Pembroke, NC; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; along with many friends and family.

Services will be held at graveside 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023 in Pinecrest Cemetery officiated by Rev. Dean Lucas.
