Our beloved, Bertie Frances Cook Hash entered into her Heavenly home at the age of 96 in the early morning hour of January 21, 2025.
Mrs. Bertie was born in Keystone, West Virginia on October 28, 1928, daughter of the late Edward Lee Cook and Eva Halsey Cook Starnes. She was the loving wife to the late Ernest Hash whom she shared a wonderful life together until his passing in 2002. For many years, she enjoyed her career in grocery retail with Kroger and serving as a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 9696 in Bluefield, West Virginia.
After making their home in Laurinburg, she served as a member of Saint Luke United Methodist Church. Bertie cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Staci and Matthew. She was also a fabulous cook who loved cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Bertie was a wonderful mother, nanny and devoted friend who will dearly be missed.
Along with her parents and husband, preceding her in death is son, Charles Edward Hash; brothers, James Edward Cook and David Lee Cook.
Mrs. Bertie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Brown of Laurinburg; her adored grandchildren, Staci Brown, Matthew "Matt" Brown and wife Therese.
Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service. Services will be held at a later date in Princeton, West Virginia.
The family requests memorial donations be given in her memory to Scotland Regional Hospice, Post Office Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
