Barbara Locklear Locklear

Barbara Locklear of Rowland passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 81 on April 22, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late Dock and Alberta Deese Locklear born January 10, 1941 at their home in Robeson County.  She was the loving wife to the late Samuel Locklear and a precious mother of five children.   Barbara worked many years with Eaton / Golf Pride and then with the Robeson County School System as a teacher assistant.  She faithfully served as a member of  Gospel Tabernacle Baptist Church until her declining health.  She loved cooking and sharing meals with others, fishing and working in the garden.  Barbara loved her family and treasured time spent with each of them.  She was a blessing to her loved ones and will truly be missed. 

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by siblings, Esther Rich, Ronald Locklear, Winfred Locklear, Phillip Locklear, Samuel Locklear and Larry Locklear.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Delbert “Jip” Locklear and Welbert Locklear (Carolyn) both of Maxton; daughters, Debra L. Miller (Larry) and Belinda Locklear both of Rowland, Sandra Locklear (Billy) of Maxton; brothers, Billy Locklear of Rowland, Delmus Locklear of Winnabow; sisters, Hannah Brooks of Maxton, Peggy Oxendine of Rowland; five grandchildren, Stewart Locklear, Marco Rodríguez, Christian T. Locklear, Kimberly Locklear, Whitney Locklear and five great grandchildren; her many nieces, nephews and a host of loving family.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the Gospel Tabernacle Baptist Church with burial following in the Locklear Family Cemetery.   Family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
