Barbara Ann Knight, age 71 of Gibson passed away Tuesday October 8, 2019.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 at East Laurinburg Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Richard Tyson. Entombment will be in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Barbara was born March 13, 1948 in Scotland County, daughter of the late Bennie J. Smith, Sr. and Ida Grainger James. She was the devoted wife of almost 55 years to the late Wilbert Knight, Sr. She worked many years in the food service industry for Abbott Laboratories and ARA Services. Barbara enjoyed cooking, fishing and gardening, along with working crossword puzzles and she was a math wiz. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. To her family she will always be remembered as a devoted mother, loving grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will truly be missed.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Christian Morris and brothers, Terry Smith, Bennie J. Smith, Jr. and Randy Smith.
Barbara leaves behind her sons, Wilbert Knight, Jr. of Fayetteville, Jimmy Knight (Angela) of Gibson, Stevie Knight (Dana) of Laurinburg; daughters, Peggy Sue Smith (Robert) of Gibson, Lisa Knight Eaves (Michael) of Peachland; sister, Brenda Knight of Gibson; grandchildren, Chelsie Smith Johnson, Brock R. Smith, Miranda P. Locklear, Delaney B. Bender, Matthew Dawson Knight, T.J. Morris, Elise A. Knight, Krista K. Rodgers, Sydney T. Redding, Kaylee E. Redding; great grandchildren, Brooklyn L. Whitley, Samuel J. Whitley, Scarlett W. Johnson, Atlas Johnson, Adalyn G. Huffman, Bradley A. Morris, Jayden Ransom, Jeffrey Ransom, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
