Barbara Grooms

Barabara Ann Grooms, age 87 of Gibson, NC passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her home.

Barbara was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late David Lee Meriweather and Thelma Muth.  She loved to travel, loved her animals, especially her cats, had a big kind heart and never met a stranger.  She truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  While working at Butler Manufacturing she was know by her co-workers as “Mom”.

In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her brother David “Buddy” Meriweather, Jr. and sister Shirley Hasty.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband Harold Grooms, Sr. of the home; sons, Craig Hunt (Judy) of Laurinburg, Eric Hunt of Red Springs, Terry Hunt (Abby) of Maxton, Christopher Hunt (Michelle) of Hoffman; daughters, Pamela Ann Ferguson of Gibson, Valerie Hunt (Wade) of Laurinburg; step-son Harold Grooms, Jr. (Lisa) of Laurinburg; step-daughter, Bonnie Chance (Neil) of Lewistown, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

There will be a memorial service at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Richard Boles Funeral Home Chapel.
