Barbara Kirby Gibson

Barbara Kirby Gibson of Laurinburg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend departed this life at the age of 69 surrounded by the love of her family on June 20, 2025.  She will dearly be missed and her legacy of love will continue to shine in the hearts of each of her loved ones.

Barbara was born February 25, 1956 in Rockingham, NC, daughter of the late Boyce and Mary Lewis Kirby.   She lived a life of service caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Barbara loved her career in nursing and worked many years as Dr. Faulkenberry’s nurse until retiring.  She adored her family and loved sharing time with each of them, especially spoiling her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed summertime canning and watching NASCAR racing. 

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a special aunt, Reba Shaw.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Wayne Gibson of their home; her son, Michael “Mickey” Eugene Eaves (Lisa) of Peachland, NC, and daughter, Melissa Dawn Smith of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Chelsea Carlisle (John), William Brisson (Hanna), Miranda Wood (Tyler), Delaney Bender; great grandchildren, Caydance Brisson, Kaiden Carlisle, Gracie Wyand, Georgia Wood; brother, Boyce Kirby, Jr., of Laurinburg; and sister, Cynthia House (Jr) of Johnston County; niece, Jennifer Wyand and nephew, Matthew Wyand; along with a host of loving extended family and devoted friends.  

The memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.  Visitation with the family will be prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
