Ava “Jeannette” Stone Strickland, age 86 of Laurinburg departed this life on October 8, 2024.
She was the loving daughter of the late Eston Caroll Stone and the late Fosteena Polston Stone, born November 18, 1937 in Scotland County. Jeannette dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family as a homemaker. She loved serving as a member of the East Laurinburg Church of God. Jeannette enjoyed listening to Scotland High School football games on Friday nights. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will dearly be missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, D.G. “Pete” Strickland; son, Donald Gene Strickland; daughter, Terry Lynn Goins; brother, Willie “Bill” Stone; her twin sister, Barbara “Jean” Stone Outlaw and sister, Shirley Stone Fields Driggers.
Left to rejoice in her memory is son, Jerry Ray Strickland of Laurinburg; daughters, Vicky McGill (David) of Laurinburg, Elaine S. Liles (Danny) of Laurinburg; brother, Larry Stone (Frankie) of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Hollie Sanderson (Lacy), Kesha Hood (Jason), Windy Lowery (Frankie), Tracy McGill (Delton Locklear), Tara Radford (Terrell), Sara Branch, Bryon Goins, Brandon Strickland; great-grandchildren, Nichalus, Cody, Selena, Daetyn, Jada, Tamara, Kayla, Whitney, Taran, T.J. Kali, Tripp, Reagan, Braylon; six great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Bobbie, Sharon, and Kelly; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. Entombment will follow in Laurinburg Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held prior to services on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
