Anthony "Tony" Marshal Phillips

Mr. Anthony “Tony” Marshal Phillips of Laurel Hill departed this life at the age of 78 on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

He was the son of the late John Marshall Phillips and the late Frances Wittman Phillips born June 13, 1946, in Star, NC. Tony worked as a train engineer with CXS Transportation. He faithfully served as a member of St. James Catholic Church in Hamlet, NC.

Tony enjoyed being outdoors walking his dog, fishing, or even just riding in the country. He had a great love for country music and was also an avid football fan. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, along with his beloved canine companion Zeke, who preceded him in death. Tony was a loving husband, and father who will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, preceding him in death his first wife Cheryl Speight Phillips and his sisters, Joni Sigmon and Betsy McNeil.

Left to rejoice in his memory is his adored wife, Gloria Kay Pate Phillips of the home; sons Anthony Scott Phillips (wife Stacey) of Belmont, John Anthony Phillips (wife Christy) of Rockingham, Robert L. Johnson, Jr. (wife Dannielle) of Kannapolis, Michael Johnson (wife Heather) of Salisbury; daughter, Sherry Lineberry (husband Keith) of Greensboro; sister, Sylvia McSwain (husband Mike); thirteen adored grandchildren; one great grandchild, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.

A time of visitation will be held prior to the services from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the funeral home.
