Margrette “Annell” McKenzie Barnhill precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandchildren, and friends departed to her Heavenly home at the age of 91 in the early morning of April 20, 2025.
She was born April 17, 1934 in Clarendon County, South Carolina, adored daughter of the late James Cleveland McKenzie and the late Launa Bingham McKenzie. Annell took great pleasure in providing a welcoming, warm home for her family where they shared many wonderful memories. She cherished the times she was able to attend Hillside Freewill Baptist Church. Annell enjoyed sewing, creating beautiful quilts, and putting puzzles together. Her greatest joy came from time spent with family and friends who became like family and their visits to Maggie Valley, NC. Annell will be dearly missed and fondly remembered as “The Best Mom in the World.”
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Isaac Cleveland Barnhill; and sisters, Dorothy Thigpen and Elsie Springs.
Left to rejoice in her memory, are sons, Ronnie Cleveland Barnhill and wife, Pamela of Danville, GA, Sandy Lee Barnhill and wife, Karen of Fuquay Varina; daughter, Kathy Barnhill Coble and husband, Greg of Maxton; nine grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with many loving extended family and friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Oak Grove Cemetery Maxton, NC.
A time of visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
