Anna "Dora" Ross Abernethy

Anna "Dora" Ross Abernethy devoted wife of Jack Oliver Abernethy passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Dora was a Registered Nurse with 43 years in the operating room at Scotland Memorial Hospital. After her retirement, she continued her selfless endeavors giving back to the community in various health care positions.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years Jack Abernethy of the home, her daughter, Jacqueline Abernethy Ivey (Jack) of Bennettsville SC, Lynn Abernethy Jones (Graham) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and son-in-law Andy Davis of Laurinburg, NC; her grandchildren Garrett Davis, Ross Davis, Walker Davis and Bradley Jones; her great-grandchildren Andrew Davis, Hayden Davis, Phillip Ross Davis, Cameron Jones, Malcolm Jones. and their feline companion, Don King.   She was proceeded in death by her parents Roy and Maggie Ross, sister, Allie Ross McCormick, and daughter, Phyllis Abernethy Davis.

The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. David Fore.  The family will have a time of visitation following the service at the funeral home.  A private interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
