Amy Walters Cooper of Laurinburg departed this life for her eternal home at the age of 51 on April 25, 2025.
Amy was born July 28, 1973, loving daughter of the late Edward “Buddy” Walters III and the late Sherry Britt Walters of Scotland County, NC. She was a Scotland High School graduate in the class of 1991 and married the love of her life, David in 1997. Amy became a devoted homemaker, loving wife and mom, and the best Mimi ever. She enjoyed working in textiles with Waverly Mills until their closing, then Piggly Wiggly and lastly in customer service with Nic’s Pic Kwik. She loved trips to the beach, feeding the ducks at St. Andrews, and completing word search and crosswords puzzles. Above all, Amy loved and cherished her family and sharing time with each of them. She will deeply be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Along with her parents, preceding her in death is brother, Jason Walters, and a special loved one, Kendrick McGirt.
Amy leaves behind her devoted husband of almost 28 years, David A. Cooper of the home in Laurinburg; her adored sons, David A. “AJ” Cooper, Jr., his companion, Shania Brooke Tew of Laurinburg, and Brennan Davis Cooper of the home; her precious grandchild, McKenslee Aniya “Dooda” Cooper; special children she loved as her own, Travis Brooks Cooper, Allen Cobb, Jacob Walters and Brittany “BB” Britt; her brother, Brian Britt and mother-in-law, Betty Cooper. She is also survived by a host of loving family including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, special friends Shirley McLaurin and Rose; and her constant K9 companions, Paco and Cain.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the East Laurinburg Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Richard Tyson. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
