Alec Edward Shaw

Alec Edward Shaw of Marston, North Carolina was born December 24, 2005 and passed away January 9, 2025 at the young age of only nineteen. 

Alec was preceded in death by great-great-grandmother Frances Strickland of Laurinburg; great-grandparents Phyllis and William (Bill) Payne and Betty Medlock, all of Laurinburg and Dorothy (Dot) Bunn of Hamlet; and grandfather, Terry Hutchins Jr. of Pilot Mountain.

Alec is survived by parents Katherine Danielle and Ian David Shaw of Marston; siblings Bradley Logan Shaw and Lydia Danielle Shaw of Marston; and grandparents Donna Payne Sikes (Joe) of Tatum, SC and Beryl Bunn and Harry Hudson Shaw of Hamlet; great-grandparents Terry Hutchins Sr. of McColl, SC, Nora Hall of Pilot Mountain, Paul Bunn of Hamlet, and Anne Shaw of Hamlet; aunts Brandy Butcher (Dan) of Lansing, MI and Dorothy Cassiday (Mike) of Cary; uncle Terry (Trey) Hutchins III of Pilot Mountain; special great-aunt Amber (Meme) Hutchins (Jamie Gibson) of Laurinburg; special friend Gary (Deano) Medlock of Gallatin, TN; as well as a long host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Alec had many big dreams and adventures planned for himself.  He expressed an interest in auto mechanics and nursing.  His hobbies included riding his bicycle, cooking for loved ones, fishing, hunting big and small game, listening to music of all kinds, drawing, and talking to everyone.  Alec was a very outgoing and extraverted person who met no stranger and later in life made friends easily.  Alec had a way of always making people smile and laugh at his jokes.  He had an infectious laugh that will stay in the hearts of all who loved him forever.  He was always willing to lend a hand to those who needed it.  He often built and constructed.  As a young child, he would build things from scrap alongside his dad.  Alec quickly learned how to operate tractors and other machinery to help with farming duties.  Alec enjoyed family vacations; his favorite vacation was camping in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which the family did annually.

Alec touched the lives of many and will forever be loved and missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.  The memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.
