Albert Smith

Albert Smith, age 88 of Laurinburg passed away September 23, 2021.

Albert was born March 30, 1933 in Scotland County, son of the late Walter Mack Smith and Etta Quick Smith. He was the loving husband of 67 years to the late Sybil Guy Smith. He proudly served our country in the United States Army, going on to retire as a mechanic in the automotive industry. He served as a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, who also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his cars and taking care of his animals. Albert was a family man who loved sharing time with them, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed as a dedicated father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Guy William Smith; sisters, Catherine Ellis and Betty Kersey.

Albert is survived by son, Albert “Pudgy” W. Smith of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Melissa Smith, Donald Albert Smith, Ronald Patrick Smith (Crystal), Tabitha McAlister (Larry), Chelsi Smith (Luis), Kaitlin Smith; ten great grandchildren, his special K-9 companion, Gracie, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A Graveside service with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.

Memorial gifts may be given in his memory to Relay for Life of Scotland County.
