Wilbert “Boot” Benton, Jr., age 76 of Laurel Hill passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Cemetery. Rev. Richard Tyson and Rev. J.W. Williams will be officiating the services.
Wilbert was a son of the late Wilbert and Rethea Mae Ellis Benton born October 16, 1942 in Scotland County. He retired after many years as a machine operator with Rea Magnet Wire. Boot loved fishing, playing poker, watching cowboy movies and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. His devotion and love for his family will forever be cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren and sisters.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Robert Daniel Benton and sister, Linda Diane Benton.
Boot leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Sarah Carlisle Benton of the home; his children, Lisa Benton Jernigan, Crystal Lynn Benton and Jerry Franklin Benton and his wife, Christine all of Laurel Hill; sisters, Carlisa Benton Tyson (Marshall) and Mary Frances Benton Steven (Richard) both of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Joshua Derrick Jernigan, Brittany Jernigan Woriax, Alexis Benton Bryant, Dallas Joseph Benton, Jarrett Alan Benton, Thomas Joseph Benton; great grandchildren, Elijah Jay Woriax, Alaric Chase Woriax, Patience Serenity Jernigan, Sarah Ann Jernigan, Zander Bryant and Hunter Bryant; a special friend, Jerry Wright of Laurel Hill and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
