Vertis McGirt White, age 76 of Laurinburg passed away to her Heavenly home Monday, June 10, 2019.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Hedrick Jones. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
Vertis was a loving daughter of the late Lee Thomas McGirt and Nancy Bryant McGirt born October 17, 1942 in Robeson County. She served as a member of Midway Assembly of God. She was a homemaker and worked many years for Sinclair Lumber and Scotia Village. Vertis was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will truly be missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Telford McGirt, Delton McGirt and sister-in-law, Frances McGirt; sister, Sally Locklear and brother-in-law, Jimmy Ray Locklear; sister-in-law, Myrtle Goins.
Vertis is survived by her husband, John K. Locklear of the home and children, Mitchell McGirt (Brenda) of Laurel Hill, Michael McGirt of Laurinburg, Gale Higgins (Bryant) of Laurinburg, Richard McGirt (Kelly) of Raeford; brothers, Thomas McGirt (Barbara) of Maxton, Earl Goins of Laurel Hill; sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Jernigan (Danny) of Gibson, Kathy Seals of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Eric McGirt, Jennifer Hunt, Michael McGirt, Ashley Burns (Ricky), Joshua McGirt, Dylan McGirt, Brandon Higgins (Erica), Katie McGirt and ten great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, including a special nephew, Randy McGirt along with a host of loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
