Rufus Randolph "Randy" Smith, Jr.

Rufus Randolph “Randy” Smith, Jr., age 76 of Maxton passed away Monday, December 10, 2018.

Randy was born January 10, 1942 in Robeson County, son of the late Rufus Randolph Smith, Sr. and Louise Pate Smith. He was the husband of the late Harriette McLaurin Smith. He retired as a banker after many years of service and then worked part time at the ABC Store in Maxton. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Randy enjoyed cooking, building and tinkering outside. His greatest times were those he spent with his family and grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Rufus Randolph “Randol” Smith, III and a brother, Howard Smith.

He leaves behind his daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Smith Boone (Chris) of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Joshua “Josh” Sheppard, Carly Elizabeth Boone, Christopher “Scotty” Boone, II; a sister Carolyn Smith Jolly of Laurinburg and many loving family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2018 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. A private internment will be at a later date.
