Romie Locklear

Romie Locklear, age 68 of Maxton passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Smithtown Church of God with burial following in the Church Cemetery.

Romie was born July 10, 1950 at home in Robeson County to the late Breece and Lula Mae Lowery Locklear.  He worked as a welder retiring after many years with Butler Manufacturing.  He loved fishing and also enjoyed doing mechanic work, racing and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Tony Wayne Locklear; daughter, Alice Nicole “Nikki” Locklear Oxendine, brothers, Wilbert Locklear, Wilton Lowery, Lathan McMillian and sisters, Margaret Perry, Rosie Mae Locklear, Sylvia Locklear.

Romie is survived by his children, son, Michael Locklear of Raeford and daughter, Brittany Shae Locklear Strick (Anthony) of St. Louis, MO; brothers, Ernest Locklear and Vernon Locklear; sisters, Marie Feldman, Brenda Jacobs, Gail Wedepohl; grandchildren, Makayla Locklear, Amiyah Nicole Locklear, Anthony Dillon Strick, Jr., Issabella Marie Strick and great grandchild, James Dawson Yarborough along with a host of loving family and friends.

Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Smithtown Church of God.
