Richard Gene Gerling

Richard Gene Gerling, age 91of Laurinburg passed away Monday, February 4, 2019.

Richard was born October 17, 1927 in Utica, New York, a son of the late Howard Gerling and Theresa Spain Gerling.  He was a Veteran of World War II who proudly served in the United States Army.  He was a restaurant owner who enjoyed serving the community for many years. To his family, Richard will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by all of his brothers.

He leaves behind his wife, Greta Cecile Britt Gerling of Southern Pines; his son, Dr. David Gerling of Rochester, NY, and daughter, Dr. Paige Gerling (Mahlon Murphy) of Taos, NM; his grandchildren, Ciara Murphy and Liam Murphy.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Billy Olsen.  A time of visitation will follow the service.  A private interment will be at a later time.
