Rev. Robert Aaron Starner, age 56 of Laurel Hill passed away to his Heavenly home on Friday, June 28, 2019.
Robert was born January 11, 1963 in Scotland County, a son of Richard Axel Starner, Sr., and Mary Frances Starner and the devoted husband of Brenda Williams Starner. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Marines, then worked many years as the manager of the Hampton Inn and Scotland Inn. Until his illness, he served the Lord as the Pastor of Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and plumbing. Most of all, Robert loved people and serving others. Volunteering for Hospice, The American Legion and Optimist Club brought him great joy. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, uncle, a faithful pastor and friend.
Robert is preceded in death by a grandchild, Gabrielle Pruitte.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Williams Pruitte Starner of the home; sons, James Kenneth “Ken” Pruitte (Shirl) and Christopher Blake “Chris” Pruitte (Carol) of Laurel Hill; daughter, Paula Fairley of Parkton; his parents, Richard and Mary Frances Starner of Laurel Hill; brother, Ricky Starner (Christy) and sisters, Caroline S. Locklear both of Laurel Hill and Mary Ann S. Britt (Smokey) of Wagram; grandchildren, Austin Pruitte, Faith Pruitte, James Kenneth Pruitte, Jr., Christopher Blake Pruitte, Jr., Nicolas Pruitte, Erin Pruitte, Elijah Pruitte, Chelsea Fairley and Ed Fairley (Cassidy); great grandchildren, Kameron Locklear, Abbi Locklear, Ariya Wallace, Karah Ann Wallace, Jayden Henderson, Emilee Dickerson,Ezra Fairley; nephews, Matt Campbell, Mike Campbell, Charlie Locklear, Randy Leviner, Joseph Leviner; special friends, James and Jean Daniels and Ruth Ward, along with many loving friends.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Woodville Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday beginning at 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church.
