Morris Earl Britt, Jr., age 79 of Laurinburg passed away to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
Morris was a son of the late Morris Earl Britt, Sr., and Dreama Harold Britt, born March 20, 1939 in Charleston, West Virginia. He proudly served in the West Virginia National Guard. After many years of service, Morris retired as a supervisor from the Campbell Soup Company. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a church deacon. He had a passion for working with missions, especially with the Baptist Men’s Mission Team traveling to help rebuild churches and disaster relief in many areas. In his leisure time, he enjoyed wood working, stain glass and coaching football. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and many friends. To his family, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his great grandchildren, Blaine Britt and Corbin Britt.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Brenda Whited Britt of the home; sons, Mark Britt (Bonnie) of Mint Hill, Tony Britt (Alicia) of Concord, Shawn Britt (Ashley) of Midland; brothers, Richard “Dick” Britt (Catherine) of Laurinburg, Ricky Britt of Vass; sister, Joan Perry of West Virginia; grandchildren, Caitlin B. Hinson, Austin Britt, Joshua Britt, Clay Britt, Kate Britt, Adilynn Britt, Adam Britt; great grandchildren, Nolan Hinson, twins, Isla and Iris Hinson, He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Michael Malpass. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. at the church.
The family requests that memorial donations in memory of Morris be given to New Hope Baptist Building Fund, 11480 Hasty Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352 and The Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
