Maxwell Allen McDonald Sr. (83) of Laurinburg died on December 1, 2019.

Born on March 4, 1936, in Dillon, SC, Allen was the son of Colie and William McDonald. He served in the National Guard and later spent his career working with automobiles. He worked in Bennettsville, SC, and later for City Autos Ford Company in Laurinburg as the Service Manager. He ended his career teaching auto mechanics to students at Scotland High School where he was known as “Mr. Mac.” Allen was a member of Saint Luke United Methodist Church.

Allen is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ella McDonald, and his two children, Max McDonald (Mary) and Sharon McDonald Williamson (Jim) of Laurinburg. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Emily McDonald Harris (Zack), Will McDonald, and Cole Williamson, along with two great-granddaughters, Kate and Paige Harris. Also surviving is a sister, Judy Brigman.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
