Matthew “Matt” Caleb Monroe, nicknamed “Diesel” by his late brother, passed away at the age of 27 of June 20, 2019.
Matthew was the youngest son of Sharon Mangum Monroe and the late Robert Edward Monroe, Jr., born October 17, 1991 in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He worked as a Batman Technician with Batman Wild Life Damage Control and also with Carolina Crating. He enjoyed playing his guitar, reading, studying culinary and horticultural arts and caring for his animals.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Robbie” Edward Monroe III.
Matt is survived by his mother, Sharon Monroe and George Norfleet of Laurinburg; nephew, Jordan Antony Monroe and his mother, Elizabeth Brigman of Raleigh, and loving pets, Snicker and Leo.
A graveside memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the McNeill Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.
