Mary “Alice” Walden Locklear, age 63 of Raeford passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Maxton First Assembly of God, officiated by Rev. Darrell Callahan and Rev. Tex Deaton. Burial will follow in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Alice was born November 25, 1955 in High Point, North Carolina, a loving daughter of the late Richard Andrew Walden, II and Mary Elizabeth Fowler Lewis. She served as a member of the Maxton First Assembly of God. Her hobbies were fishing and bird watching. Mary was a loving homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and putting the needs of others above her own. Loving and caring for her grandchildren was a priority in her life as she was called a professional grandmother.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Christian Mendoza; mother-in-law, Sarah “Doshia” Locklear and sister, Bobbie VonCannon .
She leaves behind her husband of 34 years, James Edward Locklear; son, Joshua Lee Locklear (Cody Hunt) of Raeford; daughter, Brandie Locklear Mendoza (Agustin) of Maxton; brothers, Richard Andrew Walden, III (Wanda) of Gainesville, FL; Fredrick R. Walden (Susan) of Walkertown; Wayne Walden of High Point, Roger D. Walden of Laurinburg; sister, Margaret W. Locklear of Laurinburg; grandchildren, James (Austin) Mendoza, Abian L. Mendoza, Caden J. Locklear, Lidia I. Mendoza, Aiden C. Mendoza, Michael “Thor” Lambert, Aubree J. Locklear and a host of nieces, nephews, God children and many loving friends.
Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests memorial for donations to be given to Maxton First Assembly of God, 1033 Old Red Springs Road, Maxton, NC 28364.
