Marcella Jernigan Farris Lovell, age 77 of Gibson passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2019 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Harold Hunt. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Marcella was born February 12, 1942 in Robeson County, daughter of the late Oliver J. Jernigan and Annie Black Jernigan. She worked many years for Abbott Laboratories, Inc. and was a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, watching game shows and cooking. Above all, she cherished the times spent with family and friends. Marcella will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Jernigan, Larry Jernigan, Herbie Jernigan; sister, Martha Vonnie Byrd and her grandson, James Shockley Weatherly.
Marcella leaves behind her husband, James Lovell of the home; sons, Jack Farris (Tina), James Lovell, Jr. (Sherry), all of Laurel Hill; daughters, Tammy Weatherly (James) of Gibson, Terry Gardner (Donald) of Laurel Hill, Jackie Lynn Marshall (Joe) of Virginia, Barbara Ann Taylor (Steve) of Apex; brothers, Pete Jernigan (Dorothy) of New York, Tommy Jernigan (Margaret) of McColl, SC; sisters, Sue Mimms (Jerry), Judy Herring (Larry), all of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Jacqueline Kniskern, Fletcher Chandler Weatherly, Katie Marie Locklear, Mitchel Briner, Randle Derrick Tyson, Matthew Craig Tyson, Anna Grace Marshall, Alicia Marshall, Matthew Lovell, Joshua Lovell, Stephen Taylor, Alex Taylor, fifteen great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Linda Jernigan, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial donations may be given in her memory to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 6040 Main Street, Gibson, NC 28343.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5th at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
