Joanna Ellis Davis

Joanna Ellis Davis, age 79 of Laurinburg passed away to her Heavenly home, Tuesday, March 6, 2019.

Joanna was born April 22, 1939 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late James Ernest Ellis and Addie Katherine Stovall Shaver, lovingly raised by the late Kelly Shaver.  She worked many years in the clothing retail business and served as member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading novels and watching war movies. She especially enjoyed traveling and following the footsteps of her family heritage.  Joanna was a homemaker who dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren.  To her family, she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Davis and sons, Joy Jerome Davis, Billy Ray Davis and twin sister, Deanna Davis.

She leaves behind sisters, Pam Keahey, Brenda Webb, Alice Faye Boyd, all of Alabama; daughter in-law, Wanda Davis of Bennettsville, SC; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, along with her nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, officiated by Michael Malpass. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A private interment will be at a later date.

A time of visitation will be on Thursday evening, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the family residence, 308 Palmetto Street, Bennettsville, SC.
