James Ward Sheffield, age 62 of Maxton passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with a committal service following in the Locklear Family Cemetery.
James was a son of the late Margaret Deaton Scott born October 6, 1956 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He was a Veteran who proudly served in the United States Army. He loved his work as a truck driver retiring after many years of service from Corney Trucking Company. James loved the game football and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. To his family, he will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
James leaves behind his wife, Clara Lynn Locklear Sheffield of their home and sons, Corey Alan Locklear, James “Shawn” Sheffield (Edith), Jonathan Ward Sheffield (Emily) all of Maxton; his brothers, Kenneth Sheffield (Suena) and Joseph Deaton (Betty) all of Wagram; grandchildren, James Jackson Sheffield, Amberly Violet Sheffield, Cameron Brilea Jernigan Sheffield, Shylon McKinley Sheffield, Emiyah Sheffield, Alona Sheffield and step grandson, Elijah Lee Owens along with his nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
