James Kenneth “Kenny” Pate, age 76 of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Gray Pond Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Horace Oxendine and Rev. Gary Chavis. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
Born April 14, 1943 in Robeson County, Kenny was a son of the late James David Pate and Julie Mae Leviner Pate. He retired after 40 years of service with South Eastern Wire Company. He served as a faithful member of Gray Pond Baptist Church and the former Fire Chief of the Stewartsville Volunteer Fire Department. A few of his favorite hobbies included; coon hunting, fishing, blue grass music, classic cars and tractors. Above all, Kenny loved his family and cherished each one of them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Lois Taylor and nephew, Greg Taylor.
Kenny leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Patty Taylor Pate of their home; daughters, Pamela Kay Chavis (Mitchell) of Laurinburg and Wanda Dale McClellan (Robert Britt) of Laurinburg; his grandchildren, Ashley Coble (Josh), Shawn Chavis, DJ McClellan (Sarah), Brittany McClellan (Jimmy) and great grandchildren, Emmett, Emma, Elyse and Addison.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Gray Pond Baptist Church.
