Helen Farris Rex

Helen Farris Rex, age 78 of Laurinburg passed away on November 23, 2018.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Calvary Baptist Church with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.

Helen was the youngest of five children born October 26, 1940 to the late Henry and Hazel Gibson Farris.  She dedicated her life to the love and care of family as a homemaker.  She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, a church that she loved and formerly served as Sunday School Teacher.  She enjoyed spending her time out of doors working in the yard and flower gardens. She also enjoyed bird watching, fishing, fish fries, and cooking for her family.  She was a strong, simple, yet adventurous lady who loved traveling with her girls. One of her greatest joys was caring for her great granddaughters, Summer and Kensey.  Helen was the matriarch of the family and happiest when her family was all together.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by grandson, Kevin Lee Jacobs and her all of her siblings, Ray Odom, Vivian Reed, Pearlie Drennan and Charles Farris.

She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Dennis Lee Rex of the home; her daughter, Janet Rex Jacobs and husband Kenneth “Kenny” D. Jacobs of Laurinburg; grandson, Kenneth “Ken” Jacobs, Jr., wife, Mary and great granddaughters, Summer and Kensey Jacobs; a special niece and nephew, Tammy Culler and Chuck Drennan whom she loved as her own, and a host of loving family and many friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church. 

Memorial donations are requested to be given in Helen’s memory to the Calvary Baptist Church, 800 Old Lumberton Road, Laurinburg, NC 28532.
