Helen Delores Atkinson Crawford

Mrs. Helen Delores Atkinson Crawford, age 95 of Laurinburg passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. J.W. Williams.  Burial will follow the service in Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton.

A daughter of the late Henry and Carrie Atkinson, Helen was born October 11, 1923 in Red Springs, North Carolina.   She married her loving husband, Carrington Benjamin “C.B. Crawford, Sr., December 7, 1940 and they celebrated many happy years together before his passing.  A devoted homemaker, she worked in textiles and spent many years caring for children at her home in Maxton.  Spending time with her family, sitting on the porch enjoying her flowers and sharing time with friends brought her great joy.  She also enjoyed crocheting and plastic canvas, playing games and baking cakes for others.  Helen lived a long, full life and was a true blessing to all whom she loved.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her children, James “Henry” Crawford, William Ronald Crawford, and Mary Lee Knight; grandchildren, Charles Chavis, Heath Knight and Salena Crawford; sisters, Gertrude Atkinson, Sarah Lee, Gladys Allen, Margaret Ondovcsik, and Doris Wood; brothers, Layton Atkinson and James “Jimmy” Atkinson.

Surviving are her daughters, Delores “Marie” Holt (Terry) of Maxton, Betty Ann Shepherd of Laurinburg, Teresa Crawford Turner (Dennis) of Laurinburg and adopted and loving daughter, Shirley Watts (Terry) of Tabor City; daughters-in-law, Judy Crawford and Teresa Crawford Pierce both of Cheraw, SC; a brother, J.C. Atkinson (Betty) of Trinity and sister, Ann Hicks (Lloyd) of Indiana; her grandchildren, Jami Crawford, Jeffrey Crawford, Venessa Driggers, Tracy Crawford, Ronald Crawford, Billy Crawford, Pamela Butler, Natasha Kelley, Benjie Chavis and Mark Shepherd along with twenty five great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
