Evadean Caulder Chavis, age 86 of Laurinburg passed away at her home on Thursday, June 27, 2019.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Daniel Chapel Church in McColl, SC. Burial will follow the service in Laurinburg Memorial Park.
Evadean was born July 12, 1932 in Dillon, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Norman and Annie Oxendine Caulder. She was the loving wife to the late Furman L. Chavis who preceded her in death in 1993. She was the Mother of the Church at Daniel Chapel Church, the last surviving founding member. A strong, hardworking lady, Evadean retired after 30 plus years of service as a supervisor with Abbott Laboratories. She devoted her life to the love and care of her family, her church and being a servant of the Lord. Reading her Bible, attending her church, cooking and baking for others, and solving puzzles filled most of her days. Evadean will forever be cherished as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Dakota Wagoner; brothers, Harmon Caulder, Norman “Buford” Caulder and sisters, Elizabeth Brigman and Annie C. Bryant.
She leaves behind her children, sons, Larry Chavis (Pat) of Bennettsville, SC, Wayne Chavis (Joan) of Laurel Hill, Bobby Chavis of Laurinburg; her daughters, Linda Holland (Danny) of Laurinburg, Cathy McDonald (Mark) of Monroe, Lorri Wagoner (Lane) of Lexington; brothers, Charles Caulder (Shirley) of Clio, SC, William H. Caulder (Dorothy) of Camden, SC; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Johnny Brigman (Teresa) and a host of loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
